About CBD

What is CBD?

Nectar CBD® Full Spectrum CBD Oil contains cannabidiol (CBD), which is a cannabinoid that is naturally produced in hemp and cannabis plants. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid (meaning that it won’t get you “high”) that has many physiological benefits.

Our CBD is extracted from hemp that has been lovingly grown in Europe from EU approved hemp seeds. Since our products barely contain a trace of any Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) (the psychoactive cannabinoid), they won’t get you high and are completely legal in the UK and Europe.

Cannabinoids are a group of active compounds found in the hemp and cannabis plant such as THC, CBD, CBN, CBC, CBG and many more. Over 110 different cannabinoids have been identified and are found in varying concentrations depending on the strain of hemp or cannabis plant.

The main difference here is the plant they are extracted from. CBD oil is normally produced from the cannabinoids extracted from the hemp plant and Cannabis oil is produced from the cannabinoids extracted from the cannabis plant.

Hemp grown from EU approved seeds will contain fairly high percentages of CBD, usually somewhere between 5 and 15% and no more than 0.2% THC; whereas cannabis will contain varying concentrations of both THC and CBD, often but not always with THC being the dominant cannabinoid, meaning it will get you “high”.

Nectar CBD® oils are made by diluting full spectrum hemp flower and bud extract with a carrier oil, namely hemp seed oil or MCT oil (in our premium gold oil). The full spectrum extract is the part of the product that contains the CBD and is obtained by Super Critical CO2 extraction, which is a very safe, solvent-free method of extraction that preserves the cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and fatty acids.

Terpenes and flavonoids give hemp and cannabis it’s distinctive aromas and flavours. Different strains of hemp and cannabis have varying concentrations of different terpenes and flavonoids and will smell and taste slightly different. Terpenes and flavonoids are also found in other plants and fruits such as lavender (linalool), lemons (limonene) and many more.

Our gold standard CO2 extraction method preserves all of these precious molecules to ensure all of our products benefit from the full spectrum of what the beautiful hemp plant has to offer.

Definitely not! Some manufacturers simply add CBD isolate crystals, which is effectively just pure CBD, to their products. Products made this way will lack all of the other precious molecules that are also found to be naturally produced in hemp such as other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids.

Nectar CBD® oils are made by diluting full spectrum hemp flower and bud extract in a carrier oil such as hemp seed or MCT oil. Since they are produced from the full spectrum extract, they not only contain CBD but also other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids, which are essential to benefit from everything the hemp plant has to offer.

According to the home office, CBD is not considered to be a controlled substance in the UK. As a result it is 100% legal to possess, consume and distribute without restrictions.

THC on the other hand, is a controlled substance. The Home Office have stated that any final packaged product containing more than 1mg of THC is essentially illegal. No Nectar CBD™ products contain more than a trace of THC (in fact our lab results show “ND” – None Detected in most of our products) meaning they are well within the 1mg rule and are 100% legal.
